In this quaint fishing village the Vicky Rose was docked. The main street filled with bohemian alley ways and gypsy shops as a backdrop captured the essence of Kalk Bay. Local town's people fished off the quayside with handlines, for mackrel, as seals frolicked between the bait balls.
The selected film simulation built into the camera imparts it's tonal characteristic. It used to be a part of the photographer's skillset that allowed them to see a meaningful composition and light. To choose the best film and exposure settings to create the atmosphere they wanted to embody. I shoot with manual settings and single shot (not rapid bursts) as much as possible to recreate that authenticity. My approach with each shot is very intentional rather than 'spray and pray.' I try to impart a bit of myself into each photograph, imperfections included, rather than allowing the CPU and AI in cameras today do the work.
