The colourful beach huts that line the beaches of Muizenberg are well known mark of the area. The time of day and sun's position dropped far too much shadow over the front of the hut, but I also felt that capturing the scene from behind the huts with the beach and distant mountain as a background rather than the busy beach road would be an nice alternative to an otherwise common image.

I did not go with the most colour saturated film simulation either. I just feel that it is too 'expected' that these beach huts would be captured in that way.

The selected film simulation built into the camera imparts it's tonal characteristic. It used to be a part of the photographer's skillset that allowed them to see a meaningful composition and light. To choose the best film and exposure settings to create the atmosphere they wanted to embody. I shoot with manual settings and single shot (not rapid bursts) as much as possible to recreate that authenticity. My approach with each shot is very intentional rather than 'spray and pray.' I try to impart a bit of myself into each photograph, imperfections included, rather than allowing the CPU and AI in cameras today do the work.
