The original image that I captured. I know it's a little soft and lacks the dynamic range of ' #3 The Dungeons Keep' but I prefer this. It takes me back to film cameras of old and I feel gives an overall softer texture to the image that feels more painterly than photographic.

Being the as-shot image also adds a dimension of authenticity akin to the old film photography approach. They could darken and lighten (dodge & burn) when developing, and could crop, but that was all that they could do and this is what I value in these 'artist original' images.

The selected film simulation built into the camera imparts it's tonal characteristic. It used to be a part of the photographer's skillset that allowed them to see a meaningful composition and light. To choose the best film and exposure settings to create the atmosphere they wanted to embody. I shoot with manual settings and single shot (not rapid bursts) as much as possible to recreate that authenticity. My approach with each shot is very intentional rather than 'spray and pray.' I try to impart a bit of myself into each photograph, imperfections included, rather than allowing the CPU and AI in cameras today do the work.
